How the JUGAD player marketplace works

A typical case: a group wants to play at your venue, but two people are still missing. Instead of cancelling the game, they look for players on JUGAD.

  1. Create a pickup game

The organiser enters location, time and the number of missing players.

  2. Players sign up

Players nearby see the game in the app and sign up.

  3. Book and play

Once enough players have joined, the group books its pitch and plays.

  • Last-minute drop-out?The group finds a replacement on JUGAD instead of cancelling the pitch.
  • No regular group?Individual players find games on JUGAD they can join.

More ways to work together

Open plays

Put free pitch time to use – especially in summer or on quiet days. For open plays, players sign up individually, creating new games. They pay directly via JUGAD and the money is transferred to you. This makes sign-ups binding and turns free slots into additional revenue opportunities.

Tournaments

Community tournaments: players sign up individually and teams are formed on site – ideal for meeting new teammates.

Recreational tournaments: fixed teams compete against each other, with up to 40 recreational teams depending on available pitches.

We’ll work out together which format suits your venue.

Book pitches via JUGAD

Would you like players to book your pitches directly in the JUGAD app? We’ll set up the right solution together with you: JUGAD as the booking system for your venue or, depending on the technical options, a connection to your existing system. Let’s talk about the details and see what works best for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is JUGAD?

A free player marketplace for recreational footballers. In the app, players find suitable pickup games and groups fill open spots in their game.

How do groups find players via JUGAD?

The organiser creates the pickup game in the app: location, time and how many players are missing. Players nearby see the game and sign up.

What does JUGAD cost our venue?

Nothing. The player marketplace is free for you, just as it is for players. We also provide promotional materials for your venue free of charge.

The marketplace is free, not the pitch: your pitch rental is unaffected. The group books and pays for the pitch with you as usual.

And what do players pay?

The player marketplace itself costs nothing. A group can set a participation fee for its game, for example to share pitch costs. This is shown in the pickup game and is not a pitch booking with you.

How is JUGAD funded?

Through our own tournaments and advertising partners. JUGAD is a passion project for us: we want everyone to be able to play football regularly and find enough teammates.

Working with venues is a win-win: your groups fill their games and more people play football.

Does JUGAD help with last-minute cancellations?

Yes, that’s what it’s for. If someone drops out, the group posts the open spots in the app and looks for a replacement. How quickly someone is found depends on location and time – the earlier the game is posted, the better.

Do we need to set anything up?

No. Your groups use the app themselves. Your main role is helping them hear about it – at the counter, with posters and screen graphics, on your website and social media or with a short note in your booking confirmation. For open plays or tournaments we plan the launch together.

Do bookings still go through us?

Yes. With the player marketplace, the group books with you as before – JUGAD helps it fill the game. If you’d also like players to book directly via JUGAD, we can set this up individually with you on request.

Can we get posters or graphics?

Yes, free of charge. Tell us via the contact form what you need – posters or matching graphics for screens, website or social media. We’re happy to send them over.

What are open plays?

Open games on your pitch that players sign up for individually – no fixed group needed. This lets you use free slots, for example in summer or on quiet days.

Players pay directly via JUGAD when signing up and the money is transferred to you. This makes sign-ups binding. We’ll agree together which times work.

Can we run tournaments with JUGAD?

Yes, in two formats: in community tournaments players sign up individually and teams are formed on site. In recreational tournaments fixed teams compete – with up to 40 recreational teams depending on available pitches. We’ll work out together which format suits your venue.

If you organise a tournament yourself, you can find teams via JUGAD. How it works and which fees apply is explained on our page for tournament organisers.

Does this also apply to outdoor pitches?

Yes. Groups look for players for indoor pitches just as much as for outdoor ones – Playground Berlin, for example, is an outdoor facility.

Can pitches be booked directly via JUGAD?

Yes, as an offer we set up individually with you: JUGAD as the booking system for your venue or, depending on the technical options, a connection to your existing system. Get in touch and we’ll work out together what suits you best.

How do we get started?

Write to us via the contact form telling us where your venue is and what you’re interested in. You can start right away: by pointing groups to JUGAD when they’re short of players.
